A Tribute

“His epitaph commemorates him as the chivalrous knight: STEEL STRAIGHT. BLADE TRUE.ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE, KNIGHT, PATRIOT, PHYSICIAN & MAN OF LETTERS. Perhaps equally apt, if less lofty, as a summary of his life is the tribute from the master of a trawler he once sailed on: “You can fight, mend a broken leg or any other wound and write a true account of it all when it is all over.”

  1. Sir Arthur was just as your blog title expounds: Steel True and Blade Straight. He was a keen observer of human nature and the human condition. I’m so glad we have all his writings to contemplate. I look forward to your discoveries and expositions here.
